October 9, as a means of marking the anniversary of the creation of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in 1874, was declared World Post Day at the World Postal Congress in Tokyo in 1969.
The purpose of World Post Day is to raise awareness of the role of post in everyday life, as well as its contribution to global social and economic development. The theme for World Post Day 2022 is"Post for the Planet".
There are a large number of segments in the daily business of the postoffice that are modified to ensure the sustainability of the green planet for future generations. Would be impossible to present all these initiatives on one motif, so this year's design presents a simplified visual message about the postoffice's contribution to an environmentally sustainable future.
Post office is present everywhere on the planet. In this sense, the dotted lines on the stamp illustrate the connections between the remote regions where the postoffice reaches the most inaccessible places on the planet to offer everyone its wide range of different services.
The dominant colorin the design is green, whichis often first associated with ecology or nature. But green also represents growth and renewal. In psychology, green is often interpreted as a colorthat represents optimism, and in this case it is also associated with new beginnings.
Whether through the delivery of packages and letters or the provision of financial services, social, health and humanitarian aid, post offices work for continuous and environmentally sustainable development.
The Universal Postal Union (UPU) invited all member countries to issue this commemorative edition with a common design, in order to stimulate the post offices to continue to lead by.
