Regarding its long and permanent issuing, “Osisani jez” is the oldest illustrated journal in Southeast Europe.
During the Second World War, it was published under the names of “Partizanski jez” and “Bodljikavi jez”, while in the war camp of Osnabruck, in the very heart of the enslaved Europe it appeared as “Logorski jez” which was a unique expression of resistance to the penetration of Fascism into European and world’s press.
In the Serbian literature, especially satirical, the comediography, as well as in caricature, will remain forever written down the names of our most famous and most witty personalities (Nusic, Copic, Pjer Krizanic, Ivan Lucev, Milorad Ciric, Djordje Lobacev, Milos Vuskovic, Zuko Dzumhur, Brana Crncevic, Vladimir Bulatovic Vib, Matija Beckovic, Ivo Kusanic, Milovan Vitezovic, Nikola Rudic, Aleksandar Klas, Rade Ivanovic, Milos Krnjetin, Alek Marjano, Dragan Rumencic, Slobodan Novakovic, Mile Dobric, Desa Glisic, Ljubisa Manojlovic, Milovan Ilic Minimaks and many others) who matured on the pages of “Osisani jez”.
Since 1850. until today, and the oldest magazine “Saljivac”, the history of the Serbian satirical press has had 150 satirical magazines and newspapers… Many of them had just one or two issues. The magazine “Osisani jez” is the only one which celebrates its 75th anniversary.
